Drainage Repair Explained

What types of drainage issues does your cover include?

Our cover includes repairs or assistance for blocked or damaged internal and external waste pipes and drains made of clay, plastic, PVC, or concrete, provided they are your responsibility and you’re legally obliged to maintain them. However, this does not cover flexible pipework from appliances, which is excluded from your policy.

What drainage problems are excluded from this cover?

Excluded issues include collapsed drains, excavation works, tree root removal, or major structural repairs. We also do not cover septic tanks, soakaways, cesspits, or maintenance tasks like removing leaves or repairing drain covers; these are outlined explicitly as non-insurance items in your T&Cs.

How can I tell if a drainage issue is covered?

While our policy covers most common drainage issues, there are some situations where it may not apply. If the cause requires excavation or root cutting or involves systems like septic tanks or cesspits, our policy does not cover it. However, in such cases, we’re here to guide you on alternative solutions, providing you with the support you need.

Is emergency access part of the service if a drain blockage causes flooding?

Yes. If you’re experiencing a drainage emergency, such as sewage backing up, our cover includes emergency access and repairs, using methods like rodding or jetting to unblock the main system. But for complex issues like collapsed drains, we will treat them as beyond our scope and advise accordingly.

Can landlords add Drainage Cover as part of their property protection?

By adding Drainage protection under Landlord Cover, you’re Taking a proactive step to safeguard tenant comfort and property value. This can help avoid lengthy tenant complaints or legal disputes caused by drainage problems, making you a responsible and proactive landlord.
