A boiler cover claim follows a simple step-by-step process, from reporting the fault to getting the repair carried out.
How the claims process works:
When a boiler breakdown occurs, contact your boiler cover provider within 24 hours. If an engineer visit is required, a Gas Safe registered engineer will be sent to carry out the repair. Most repairs are dealt with on the first visit, but more complex problems may need follow-up. If a boiler is assessed as beyond economic repair, replacement or contribution terms may apply depending on the policy.

Do you need boiler cover?
At some point, it’s likely there will be a problem with your boiler, hot water or heating. You could choose to self-insure, but this means hoping that you’ll be able to find a tradesperson when you need help, and there could be big one-off payments you’ll need to make.
What does boiler cover include?
Boiler cover includes boiler breakdown repairs, labour and VAT for accepted claims; additionally, the coverage may be expanded to central heating, plumbing, domestic electrics and home security, based on the policy.
What is the difference between boiler cover, central heating cover and home cover?
Boiler cover protects just the boiler, covering breakdowns, labour, and an annual service. Central heating cover protects the entire heating system, including the radiators, pipes, and controls. Plumbing, home electrics, drainage, home security and pest control are added to My Home Cover.

Can I get boiler cover without a service history?
Many boiler cover providers advise servicing a boiler every year before signing up for a policy. Cover can also be obtained without a service history; however, going forward, annual servicing must be maintained, and failure to do so may lead to future claims not being accepted.
Is Boiler Cover included in Home Insurance?
Some providers of home insurance offer this as a feature of their products. Check that you’re not already covered by your home insurance or other policies, so you are not paying for cover you don’t need.
How does excess work with boiler cover?
The excess is the amount contributed towards each accepted claim. A higher excess lowers the monthly premium, while a lower or zero excess means less to pay per accepted claim but more towards your monthly or annual payments.
Note: an excess may also apply automatically if the boiler is 11 or over 11 years old, regardless of the excess option selected. With 24|7 Home Rescue, excess options range from £0 to £95.
Which Boiler Cover is best?
Beyond Economic Repair (BER) occurs when the cost of repair is greater than the value of the boiler. A repair will always be prioritised if the repair cost is below £250 and parts are still available.
If the boiler is assessed as BER, 24|7 Home Rescue will provide boiler replacement terms, subject to holding continuous cover for at least 12 months. (Subject to Terms and Conditions)
Does 24|7 Home Rescue boiler cover include an annual boiler service?
An annual boiler service is included as a non-insurance feature with selected 24|7 Home Rescue boiler cover options carried out by a Gas Safe Register certified engineer. Please refer to your policy schedule to verify if this is part of your selected policy.
Are 24|7 Home Rescue engineers Gas Safe registered?
Yes, all 24|7 Home Rescue engineers work with the Gas Safe Register and are qualified to install, repair and service gas boilers to the highest safety level demanded by law by gas boiler insurance companies.
